“Our experience at Martell School of Dance was fantastic! Even before we registered, the owner, Rachel, was very responsive to all our questions as we switched from our local rec. program to Martell so that our daughter could take lyrical and ballet classes with the goal of dancing en pointe. Our daughter started with just a few classes, but she enjoyed it so much that she soon was taking several classes in many styles and participating in extra auditions, summer classes, and pop-up sessions. The teachers have been phenomenal: very knowledgeable, creative, supportive — and simply great at sharing their love of dance.

All along, we have found the environment welcoming and supportive, but also challenging in just the right way, helping my daughter push herself and take chances. The teachers are attentive to each dancer’s strengths and weaknesses. Rachel even noticed when our daughter was trying to push through an injury, and together we made a plan to help her heal and return in due time. I have also been impressed with the studio’s willingness to listen to parent feedback, welcome parent involvement, and show appreciation for volunteers. And finally, I must add that the sheer number of details that the studio manages and communicates effectively, especially when they stage 3 end-of-the-season recitals for hundreds of dancers, is endlessly impressive! “My daughters, Kennedy and Sydney have been coming to Martell School of Dance since 2012 at the ages of 3 and 2 years old. While searching, we looked for a professional dance studio that also offered diversity in dance styles as well as the faces they would see. The staff at Martell have not only taught my girls professionalism in dance but also the cultural history behind some of the dance styles. They have participated in so much from their annual dance classes like ballet, pointe, musical theater, hip hop, jazz, tap and acro to summer classes and even master classes with outside dance educators. Our faculty/staff reinforce compassion and encourage leadership opportunities and growth. I’ve witnessed my girls and their peers celebrate each other’s successes, encourage one another, and develop lifelong friendships built on mutual respect. The staff at Martell have become my girls’ other “moms”, “aunties”, “big sisters” etc. while they are away from home.
