Q:  My child is interested in pointe. What are the requirements?
A: Anyone interested in taking pointe must be approved to be moved into the class. This is strictly a safety issue. Students must be strong enough to be on their pointe shoes and hold their technique. Although injury is common when you are physically active and athletic, we try to minimize that possibility for our students. Dancers are NOT moved into pointe based on number of years they have taken ballet; placement is based strictly on strength.

Q: May I watch my child in class?
A: We do not allow parents in the classrooms on a regular basis, however, we do have 2 observation weeks per year and we invite parents and family members to see what we’ve been working on!

Q: What is the best way to find out how my child is doing in class?
A: If you would ever like specifics on how your child is doing in class, please feel free to send me an email any time at  I am always happy to discuss individual progress .

Q: Do you offer adult classes?
A: Yes! Our adult program is growing every year. Currently we offer classes for adults in ballet, tap, jazz, ballroom, and Zumba!

Q: My child is interested in being a student assistant, how can he/she apply?
A: Our office managers, Brittney and Kris, have a list of all interested potential student assistants. If your child would like to be considered, they can ask to have their name added to that list. As assistants are needed, I will pull kids from that list to join our staff. Assistants are chosen based on skill level, attitude, attendance, respect for others, leadership skills and their genuine love for the art of dance.

Q: What is the SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM and how can my child apply?
A: Each year one student is chosen to be on scholarship for the upcoming dance year. This student receives an entire year free of tuition. They have the responsibility of certain staff and assistant duties and must participate in dance classes 5 days a week. The scholarship student cannot have any other extra curricular activities that would interfere with their duties at Martell and are expected to keep good grades. Our scholarship student is the only student who performs a solo in our annual recital.  Scholarship students are chosen based on age, maturity level, skill level, dance experience, leadership skills, respect for others, genuine interest in the art of dance and a strong desire to grow as a dancer. Anyone interested may apply with Kris or Brittney at the front desk. Please let them know you would like to be considered for scholarship student and they will add the name of the student to the list.
